Why Whole Leaf Tea? 

We are often asked, why whole-leaf loose tea? Why no tea-bag? Is there a reason? Simple answer: YES!

Commercially bagged teas are processed on machinery that damages the leaves and generally requires processing aids to be added, such as dry lubricant, to help the leaves run through the machines smoothly. Although these substances are considered “harmless”, in our humble opinion they degrade the quality, freshness and taste of the tea.

Running tea leaves through commercial equipment also tends to break the leaves which allows the natural essential oils in the leaves to escape quicker, thus causing much flavor and quality to be lost.


At Kai Organic Tea we have chosen to keep the tea in whole-leaf loose form allowing us to hand craft our blends in small batches, keeping them as pure as the mountain ranges they are grown on. You really can taste the difference.
